In 2003, fresh off of leading the Syracuse Orangeman to their first National Championship, Carmelo Kiyan Anthony was drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft. He was taken as the third pick by the Denver Nuggets. After the one season at Syracuse and a prolific career at the Oak Hill Academy, Carmelo had become a professional basketball player at the age of 19. Nicknamed “Melo”, Anthony instantly became one of the most high profile and popular players in the NBA. The awards he has received in his career include All-Rookie, All-Star, and All-NBA. Carmelo almost singlehandedly took the Denver Nuggets from losers to winners in his 7 year career with the team. They reached the playoffs six years in a row and earned two division titles in doing so. In other words, Melo did some work. He did some serious work.
The serious work he has done in the last 7 years has been done in his own Jordan signature sneaker. And it has been done in a Nugget uniform. This season his work will be done in a New York Knick uniform after last season blockbuster trade that sent him to the Big Apple. Entering this season, barring an NBA lockout, Melo will be rocking the new edition of his signature shoe. The Jordan Melo M8 has released on foreign soil and will soon be dropped in the US at major Jordan retailers. That’s right, we will have yet another Jumpman model to cop in the upcoming months. One of the new colorways of the Melo M8 that was unveiled today is the Knicks “away” edition.
The new Jordan Melo M8 is actually a continuation of the work that was done on the Melo M7 Advance. A combination of Nike Flywire support panels and synthetic materials are used on the upper of the shoe to provide a stable, yet flexible fit. The upper also features patent leather overlays that increase durability. In addition the Nike Max Air cushioning system has been place in the shoe’s midsole and creates maximum impact protection. This is one sick looking shoe. The royal blue patent leather on the Black upper makes this shoe pop. Complete with a blue midsole, orange Jumpman logo and a white outsole, this is one of the best looking Melo signature sneakers to come done the pipe in a long time. This shoe will drop October 12th. Mark your calendars.
Carmelo Anthony has a brand new pair of shoes. He, like LeBron James, is hoping they are the pair that will bring him an NBA Finals Championship Ring. That and a lot of hard work just may do it. The new Melo M8 joins a long list of Jordan shoes for basketball that have been laced up in the hopes of taking home the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy.
