Disney’s 2013 Promotion: Limited Time Magic at Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida

Each year Disney celebrates with a new promotion. Disney’s 2013 promotion is called “Limited Time Magic” and will be celebrated at the Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. This promotion promises 52 weeks of pixie-dusted surprises and special themes. For the most part, each experience will disappear after 7 days to make way for the next week’s “limited time magic” experience. Upcoming experiences will be announced two weeks in advance in a variety of ways, such as on Disneyworld.com, Disneyland.com, Facebook, Twitter, the Disney Parks Blog and in-park.

Here are some examples of some of the experiences that Disney has announced that it will offer at its two US parks during 2013:

“A Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue” – this California Disneyland Park experience is a family friendly, 20 minute tribute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue which ran at the Golden Horseshoe Saloon from Disneyland’s opening day in 1955 through 1986. In this current tribute, Ms Lily and her saloon girls bring back songs, dancing (including the can-can) and jokes said to be among Walt Disney’s personal favorites. Performances will be held Monday through Thursday, January 10 through February 4. To attend one of the shows you will need to get a ticket from the Cast Member at the podium in front of the Golden Horseshoe Saloon located in Disneyland’s Frontierland. This is predicted to be a very popular show, so pick up your ticket as soon as you enter Disneyland Park for the day.

“Long Lost Friends Week” – will bring back lesser known Disney characters for photo ops and Meet and Greet opportunities. Some of the characters that are likely to appear are Three Little Pigs, Friar Tuck, Robin Hood, Horace Horse Collar, Clarabelle Cow, Remy, Flik, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. The available characters will be at least partially determined by an on-line vote – Disney guests will have a chance to vote for the “long lost characters” they wish to see. The Long Lost Friends experience will take place at the Walt Disney World Resort from January 21-27. The Disneyland Resort has not announced when this experience will be available in California.

“True Love Week” – this experience will feature surprise meet and greets with some of Disney’s favorite Princess and Prince couples. Other offerings will be candlelight dinners held at select restaurants, valentine collectibles and romantic pink and red lighting on the castles in each park. Look for this experience to occur during the week in February that includes Valentine’s Day.

“Pirate Week” – this 7 day experience will feature special pirate themed souvenirs and collectibles, special entertainment such as Pirate bands, and Pirate meet and greets. Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Pirates of the Caribbean will be featured in this week-long experience.

“Patriotic Week” – will be a week-long experience held during the week that includes July 4th. Look for limited edition themed souvenirs such as Mouse Ears and USA shirts. The castles will be lit in the patriotic colors of red, white and blue. Expect to see Mickey Mouse greeting visitors in patriotic dress.

“Villains Week” – get ready to enjoy activities and photo ops featuring such Disney villains as Jafer, Maleficent and Captain Hook. Experiences include a Villain dance party, a night of Disney Mischief and a 13th Hour (1:00 am) closing time on Friday the 13th.

“Dapper Dans Sing Boy Bands” – This Disney Main Street USA quartet will claim the title of the “original boy band” during this week-long celebration. Featured during the finale of each of their shows will be a medley of hit songs from such current boy bands as One Direction, NSYNC and Back Street Boys.

Also, as part of the “Limited Time Magic” promotion, Disney has declared 2013 to be the “Year of the Ear”. Each month Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will offer new limited edition themed “ear hats” to add to your collection.
