If you’re reading this, then I’m hopeful your mom just might be on of those people who has a truly Merry Christmas I’m not saying that Christmas is about the presents…I’m saying that when mom realizes that you put a lot of thought into finding the perfect gift for her it will warm her heart.

Let’s face it. We’ve all received rotten presents on Christmas morning. Rotten presents suck! There, I said it…and if you remember back to that morning when you eagerly tore the wrapping paper off your gift only to find a hand me down sweater direct from the neighborhood thrift store then you wouldn’t dare to disagree. Here are 5 reasons you need to start thinking about mom’s Christmas 2007 gift(s) right now:

There is an overabundance of great quality gifts available now that will not be available at the end of November and December.

Are you one of those people that waits each year to find deeply discounted gifts at the end of the holiday shopping season? Well, I’m not going to lie and tell you that those deals don’t exist. What I’m going to do is ask you to ponder over this question with the confidence that you will be able to figure out the answer for yourself: Why are these potential gifts still available during the busiest shopping period of the year, and why are they being deeply discounted? hmm

For those of you shopping on a budget, this is a great time to find deals that won’t be available as consumer desperation level rises at the end of the Christmas shopping season.

As long as you’re not looking to get mom “back to school items” August and September can be prime months to find high quality gifts at a fair price.

Do you think Mom is actually going to tell you what she wants?

Getting Mom to actually admit what she wants a gift can be like pulling teeth. Moms are always so good at giving, but when it comes time to think about themselves for a minute they seem to shut down. This is why I recommend “watching and observing” as opposed to actually “asking” mom what she wants. Here’s a quick example: Mom was still holding on to her VCR and watching movies and her soap operas in extremely poor quality. I watched as she struggled to make the picture a bit clearer. Now she would have NEVER asked for a DVR(digital video recorder) However, after I set it up for her and showed here how easy it was to use…she was in heaven! She would have never asked for a gift like this. I came up with the idea from observation. So start observing now!

Don’t get caught empty-handed on christmas morning!

For those who plan to purchase gifts online, please heed this advice! There are throngs of last minute orders online and almost everyone wants their gifts delivered by Christmas. Because of all the pandemonium, mistakes can be made with your items and it’s also possible that your order will not be filled in a timely manner because there are not enough employees to deal with the overflow of orders. This has happened to me more than once in the past few years and it never feels good to tell someone they’ll get their gift in a week or two when everyone else has theirs. Don’t do this to mom please!

Have a relaxing holiday and spend more quality time with mom.

ok….I admit it. I’ve been guilty of this offense more than once. I’ve procrastinated until the VERY last minute and spent much of the time leading up to christmas running around like a chicken with my head cut off. As everyone else is visiting and spending quality time together, I’m nowhere to be seen as I’m frantically doing the mall rounds. Last year I was done with my holiday shopping before Thanksgiving and I felt an overwhelming sense of PEACE as the holiday approached. I also had more time to do “fun stuff” with Mom and the rest of the family.

This holiday season, I’m hoping these ideas help you bring some joy to mom in the form of a fabulous Christmas gift and also in the form of quality time that you will have to spend with mom during the holidays by starting your search for mom’s gift now. Good Luck and enjoy a wonderful Christmas 2007!
